DeBruce Farmstead and Cottages - Historic Fly Fishing Site

Within the Catskill Forest Preserve, visitors have been coming to the Hamlet of De Bruce, enjoying its woods, streams, wildlife and hospitality since the 1890's. De Bruce is the historic epicenter of fly fishing history. It is here, at the confluence of the Willowemoc and Mongaup Creeks, that George LaBranche made history when he cast the first dry fly in America and gave us the "Pink Lady" fly...and the cocktail of the same name.

Today, at the site of the iconic old De Bruce Club Inn, you can enjoy the same gifts of nature and old-fashioned hospitality at what is now De Bruce Farmstead and Rose Cottage. Take a tour of our food forest, permacultured edible landscape and gardens. Stay with us for a day or a week at the Rose Cottage. Delight in the healthful, nutritious, delicious wild foraged and fresh produce; our own chicken and duck eggs, and grass-fed Angus cattle. It is here that you can enjoy the beauty and bounty of the Wild Willowemoc Valley.
