Peters Valley School of Craft

Peters Valley School of Craft is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, founded in 1970 in partnership with the National Park Service to promote and encourage education and excellence in craft. From our humble beginnings as an artist colony to our recognition today as an internationally renowned center of fine craft, our presence in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area defines Peters Valley and the experience for our visitors, resident artists and students.

Peters Valley's programs include adult summer workshops & youth programs (May-October), opportunities for artists, special studio programs, public exhibitions in our campus gallery (open year-round), demonstrations, and outreach. The school maintains studios in eight disciplines: Blacksmithing, Ceramics, Fiber Surface Design, Fiber Structure, Fine Metals, Photography, Special Topics and Woodworking. Our primary programming is between May and September each year—we offer over 125 intensive two-to-five-day workshops in the disciplines represented by our studios.

Funding for Peters Valley is provided by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, Hudson Farm Foundation, Lenore G. Tawney Foundation, Charles Lawrence Kieth and Clara Miller Foundation, Marie and John Zimmermann Fund and by the generosity of our members and individual donors.

Eco-Friendly Notes

Our facilities, nestled amid the fields, forests and streams of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, were once the charming and leafy farm village of Bevans. Through adaptive reuse, these historic buildings now serve as a gathering place for a thriving community of artists and environmentalists, thinkers and changers of the world. The link between the natural and man-made splendor of our environment exemplifies of our commitment to being stewards of the park. This is a setting that we hope you will enjoy!

Accessibility Notes

Peters Valley School of Craft is committed to being accessible to all of our students. However, the terrain at the Valley is natural and some of the historic buildings are only partially accessible. Paths and driveways are not paved.

Pet Friendly Notes

Pets are not allowed in any of our buildings or at any of our special events
