Tamaracks Country Villa

A historic country estate nestled in the wooded land preserved by the Nature Conservancy in Byram's Township of lakes, the seven bedroom inn is a Mediterranean style villa built upon a 1760 stone farmhouse. Located next to Johnson Lake, one mile from Cranberry Lake and four miles from Lake Musconetcong, it provides plenty of places to poke around in a kayak or canoe for an afternoon outing. Our many comfortable common areas are perfect for winding down after a day hiking in the Gap or on the plentiful local trails before heading out for dinner or the theatre.

Bed and Breakfast Style

The exposed stone walls in the dining room and Chinese Lounge Room are the original stones removed from the fields to build the farmhouse. They add to the Old World feel of the mansion. Warm, inviting furnishings coax you to relax and experience nature just outside your windows. Each suite has a gas fireplace, flat screen tv, queen or king bed, sitting area and private bathroom. Some have a deck and a soaking tub to ease sore muscles after a day of strenuous activities. A full course breakfast is served in the dining room, often in front of a cozy fire. As your hosts, we'd be happy to guide you to some awesome sights you won't want to miss along the Delaware on the "Jersey side."

Parking lights are on timers to reduce electricity usage. Driveways are constructed of permeable materials to reduce runoff of surface water. We use a composter and raised beds for gardening and are always willing to discuss the benefits of these practices. Use of native plantings encourage wildlife to share the property.
