Jim and Laura McManus are the proprietors and artists in residence of The Camptons Art and Design Studio and Gallery, a new gallery space and working art studio in Hancock, N.Y.
The Camptons Art and Design Studio and Gallery is located in the Upper Delaware River region of the Catskills in Hancock, NY. Just a three hour drive from NYC and Philadelphia. Our area is famous for it's picturesque landscapes, trout fishing, beautiful farms, farmer's markets, summer camps and quiet living.
The Camptons is a unique studio and gallery space which exhibits the paintings and artwork of artists Jim and Laura McManus along with that of other artists from time to time. Spring and Summer hours for The Camptons Art and Design Studio and Gallery are Fridays and Saturdays 11-5 and Sundays 11-3. Please email or call for an appointment should you wish to stop by on other days of the week.
The Camptons is also pleased to represent Donna Endres of Istanbul to Samarkand Rug Gallery in Austin, Texas and her extensive inventory of direct-import, vintage, and antique tribal rugs. Our new location is convenient for current and new clients in the Princeton, D.C., Boston, Philadelphia, Toronto and N.Y.C. area.
Although Jim and Laura are new residents in Hancock, having lived in the Caribbean for many years, Jim's family has been a part of the Upper Delaware River area since the mid 1800's. Jim's family history began in nearby Lake Como, PA where his family owned the lake and also a summer retreat and hotel known as The Gilchrist.
Jim and Laura are both artists who enjoy painting the landscape in all four seasons. They have been painting and showing their work for many years and are excited to make a bright spot for the community of Hancock, NY by opening their studio/gallery on the river to the public so that the community and visitors alike may enjoy their art and paintings of the beautiful river valley and mountain scenery.
Jim and Laura show their work in and around the area.They are both members of the Wayne County Arts Alliance on the Pennsylvania side, and Delaware Valley Arts Alliance closer to Hancock. They have a husband and wife show up for the summer of 2016 at The Lodge at Woodloch in Hawley, PA. They are currently involved in the planning of the inaugural "Arts in the Park" festival set for August 6 in Hancock's Town Square and are looking forward to helping to promote the arts in the area.
