Eco-Friendly Notes

Pocono TreeVentures Aerial Ropes Adventures Course located on The Villas at Fernwood Resort.

The construction and opening of Pocono TreeVentures, a five course aerial ropes adventure park by Bushkill Group Inc., represents the joining of tourism development and environmental preservation. The amenity promotes active enjoyment of the outdoors where you appreciate nature while engaging in activities that are fun, challenging, build confidence, and are good for your health.

Located on Route 209 in Bushkill, PA next to the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, the park contains courses made of platforms constructed at various levels in the trees connected by different types of bridges that represent obstacles. Guests maneuver from platform to platform wearing harnesses allowing them the opportunity to experience the pastoral beauty of the wooded Pocono Mountain setting while being challenged with physical activities that range from easy to extremely challenging.

Course construction was completed in 2013 and is sited on a ten acre property that includes a stream, original farmhouse and barn. The farmhouse was repurposed to house the check in and harnessing area with future plans to restore and incorporate the barn into the operation. Not only did the new amenity preserve the property but incorporated its pastoral beauty into the challenge of the courses. Trees were preserved and respected and are a critical part of the overall experience. Guests marvel at experiencing nature from the unique perspective of a bird in the trees. It is physically challenging but provides a sense of accomplishment and gives all who participate an appreciation of the beauty of nature. In the last year, the facility has been expanded to include two children's courses - Pocono KidVentures and a zip line course - Pocono Zip Quest.

Locally or Family-Owned Business Notes

The Pocono Mountain region has been a destination for family and outdoor minded recreation travellers for over a century. The Villas at Fernwood Resort have been part of the fabric of that history for almost as long, starting out as a small roadside family restaurant and growing into the 400-acre four season Resort it is today. The owners of the property live, work and grew up in the region. Its success is largely due to their attention to the details that make the vacation experience special including a long list of year round amenities that use the beauty of the Pocono Mountains as their backdrop, great employees that have a desire to share their love of the region with guests, and the recognition that preserving the natural environment is important for generations to come.
