Weona Park Carousel

The “Jewel of Pen Argyl” is a three row Dentzel stationary menagerie carousel with hand carved painted wooden animals from three periods of Dentzel Company work: ca. 1890s, ca.1905, and ca. 1917. It is one of only two remaining Dentzel carousels having original factory paint on the animals. There are 44 animals and two sleighs, all original to the date of purchase by Weona Park. The animals includes three giraffes, three reindeer, three goats, one zebra and 34 horses.

The Carousel is located in Weona Park on Route 512 in Pen Argyl, PA. The park also includes natural areas, a basketball court, recreational fields, a skate park, an amphitheater with seating for outdoor concerts and a newly renovated miniature golf course. Picnic pavilions, kitchen and bathroom facilities round out a perfect setting from  family reunions to festivals. The Community Center located in the park provides for indoor classes as well as private parties and events.

Was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 4, 1999.
