Chatham County Line: North Carolina-Based Bluegrass -At the Wildflower Music Festival, White Mills, PA

Formed in Raleigh, NC in 1999 from members of the band Stillhouse, the Chatham County Line has released seven albums, becoming popular in Europe as well as the band members native United States. The band has a mostly acoustic bluegrass sound, leaning towards country. Its close harmonies, sometimes featuring all four men, are prominent as one of the group’s best assets, along with plenty of gentle guitar picking, rolling banjo, sweet bass fiddling, and woody mandolin. Their album Autumn features a nuanced selection of warm, earthy music, and they hit their stride on a trio of sweet ballads: “Rock in the River,” “Jackie Boy,” and “All That’s Left.”
