Karen has had a long and varied career as both a Broadway singer in such plays as Nine (receiving a Tony nomination) and Grand Hotel, and as a movie actress in Woody Allen’s The Purple Rose of Cairo and Heartburn playing Jack Nicholson’s mistress. She has appeared in many TV shows, including two Great Performances honoring the music of Duke Ellington and Ira Gershwin. Whether singing at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The John F. Kennedy Center, The White House, The Hollywood Bowl, Wolf Trap, The Prince Theatre in Philadelphia, or The Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel in New York, she impresses her audiences with her compelling voice and sensitive interpretations of the songs. Her musical director, pianist Alex Rybeck, is a composer, arranger and pianist, who has worked with George Abbott, Hal Prince, Tommy Tune, Burt Bacharach, Karen Akers and many other Broadway and cabaret stars.
