Lake Mohawk German Christmas Market - Sparta, NJ

The Lake Mohawk German Christmas Market in Sparta, NJ continues to be ranked as “One of the Top Ten Things to Do in December in the State” – it’s simply at the top of the “to do” list for festive shoppers.

The weekend brought another record number of people from far and wide to start their annual Christmas shopping at the 18th Annual Lake Mohawk German Christmas Market last December. Not only has the local community embraced this festival, it’s popularity and charm has grown to bring coach buses from Pennsylvania, day-trippers from Connecticut, New York & Delaware and beyond.

This magical German Christmas Market beckons to all, with beautifully crafted and unique gifts from vendors near and afar. With the perfect backdrop of beautiful Lake Mohawk… why go anywhere else?

The authentic wooden huts have simply enhanced the enchanting festive atmosphere. In the 18 years since its humble beginning of raising funds for local charities and organizations, it is now truly recognized as New Jersey’s largest Christmas Market, attracting over 20,000 to Lake Mohawk during the weekend.

The German Christmas Market also continues to enjoy a special visitor – St. Nicholas, himself, holiday photo shoot area and a petting zoo with pony rides which is located at the main entrance of the Lake Mohawk Country Club in the circle drive.

Park & Ride locations are provided allowing for a stress-free visit. For more details, see Directions on our website.

This event is run by volunteers and all proceeds go to LOCAL CHARITIES. Since 2001, the total donations back to the community has reached over $250,000. Donations are accepted all year, please see website:

The success of the German Christmas Market means a great deal to the local community. Incorporating this year’s donations means that almost $250,000 has been given back to those in need since the Market was founded in 2001.
