St Volodymyr Ukrainian Catholic Church - Glen Spey, NY

Just a couple of miles off the byway from the Delaware River in Sullivan County, you will find St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Catholic Church in Glen Spey, NY. It is the most beautiful example of Eastern European architecture. Visitors from all backgrounds are amazed at these wooden structures (Church and Bell Tower) and find them both magnificent and striking.

With the influx of Ukrainians in the community calling it "Little Ukraine" because it reminded them of their homeland, the funding to build St. Volodymyr's started in 1961 and the church was finished in 1967. Now this beautiful original Ukrainian church with it's Bell Tower and couplas dominates the countryside like in the Carpathian Mountain region of Ukraine. It consists of hand-carved moldings, Iconostasis, altars and chandelier along with beautiful oil paintings. The church was designed by Ukrainian architect, Apollinare Osadca in the style of churches built in Ukraine.
