Walpack Center is a small and scenic village located just off Old Mine Road. Like other villages along this road, the Kittatinny Ridge to the west and the highlands of New Jersey to the north isolated the hamlet of Walpack Center. Area farmers found what they needed at the village's general store, post office, blacksmith shop, church, and school. By the early 20th century, however, automobiles and larger farms proved to be too much competition and the village began its decline. Today, the Walpack Historical Society operates a museum in the First Rosenkrans House on summer weekends.
